Back to the Summer of ’87: MP’s Disco Top 15 Part 2 – Renesse Summer of 1987
Step into the time machine and let the neon lights guide you back. The air is thick with the salty North Sea breeze and the scent of cheap 80s cologne. Welcome back to Renesse, Summer of ’87.

For those who remember the sizzling summers spent in holiday hotspots, the name DJ Marko’s Disco Top 15 will instantly trigger a wave of nostalgia. This wasn’t just any old chart; it was the definitive guide to the hottest disco anthems of the moment.
This mix is a sonic polaroid of the golden age of Dutch nightlife. It captures the electric pulse that drove the crowds from the intimate chaos of ’t Roefke to the packed balcony of Pinky’s.
The selection perfectly mirrors the rhythm of a legendary night out. It kicks off with the sophisticated, synthesized funk and soulful R&B grooves that dominated the airwaves—the kind of slick basslines that got hips moving at any venue. But as the tape rolls, the energy shifts. We transition into the high-octane, driving beats of Italo-disco and Euro-pop anthems that tested the marble dance floor of Trinity.
It’s the sound of holiday romances, sweat-drenched casual wear, and the unbridled freedom of our youth. Relive the heat, the heartache, and the relentless beat of the best summer of your life.
Enjoy the ride!

He played school parties at 12 years old, was a DJ at a pirate radio station, started playing in discos at 16, and got booked for his first international gig at 17 years old. His passion for telling a story and his ambition of taking the audience on a journey does not make him the most accessible, but more of an acquired taste. His mix tapes became quite popular both in Holland and abroad. Now through the magic of the Nakamichi, we can enjoy those sounds again like they were recorded yesterday.
